A variety of record drawings dating from 1915 were available, however some areas of the City had no records whatever. Major thrust of the project was to develop accurate record drawings for the City of Lagos so that detailed design could be implemented in a cost effective manner. | | Description of actual services provided by your staff |
|---|
- Aerial photographs of the City were flown and mapping of the entire road network prepared.
- With that mapping available, survey crews proceeded to walk every street in Lagos and identify, with the assistance of Water Corporation plumbers, the locations, sizes and materials of all water mains. All significant surface features such as valves and hydrants were identified.
- The information was gathered using a mixture of manual recording and electronic distance measuring equipment. The use of the computerized EDM equipment meant that survey data could be downloaded directly into the base drawings.
- Complete as-built records for the entire water supply system existing within Lagos were prepared. These are available in digital form on CADD equipment, meaning that the Water Corporation is able to update these drawings.
- The system is compatible with the implementation of either a geographic information systems or a maintenance management system to ensure effective operation of the system in the future.
